Dental Care

Regular brushing and frequent cleanings can help prevent gum disease.

At Animal 911 Veterinary Hospital, we are committed to working in collaboration with you so that you keep your pets’ teeth, mouth and gums healthy. It is very important to not take the health of your pets’ mouth for granted since minor problems can often cause discomfort and pain if not treated properly. Please contact our team if you have any questions for your pet’s dental health and to plan your next consultation.

Why is it important to care for my pet’s teeth?

Regular dental care is important for pets like it is for humans. In fact, dental issues are the most frequent problems related to domestic animals. Those issues are preventable with simple home and clinic treatments. Dental disease can be more dangerous if your pet already has a health condition with a weakened immune system. Plaque, gingivitis and periodontitis are the most common problems that pets can develop related if the right aspects of pet care are not taken into consideration.

How often should I brush my pet's teeth?

Daily removal of plaque on your pet’s teeth is the key to a good dental hygiene. Just like us, brushing is the most effective method of removing remaining food particles, bacteria and plaque that has accumulated. It needs to be done daily, or all that plaque and debris will solidify and turn into tartar, which can no longer be removed via brushing and will require a professional dental cleaning. Eventually, when tartar forms, it will irritate the gums and often lead to an infection which can destroy the tooth itself and cause other considerable health problems.

What dental services do you offer?

At Animal 911 Veterinary Hospital, we offer dental cleanings which include:

  • Scaling of all the teeth to remove the tartar
  • A full dental examination to ensure no medical problems
  • Polishing of all the teeth to help diminish the rate of bacteria and plaque buildup
