The actions that will occur will varies from patient to patient depending on the cause. There are others conditions that needs to be considered, such as the age of your pet, its breed and his general health. Here are some of the treatments that we propose to our clients: medicated shampoos, antibiotics, antifungal, corticosteroids, antihistamines and topical ointments.

Skin infections develop when the skin barrier and its natural balance are compromised. This can occur for several reasons, for instance, when the skin is inflamed due to an allergen, if the skin stays wet too long after a swim or if it was irritated by high grass during a walk in the woods, etc. The bacteria that make up the cutaneous flora, and that is naturally found on the skin, then use the opportunity to multiply excessively.

Bacterial skin infections are characterized by redness, circular crusts, scabs, flakes, small raised pimples (papules or pustules) and hair loss. They also usually cause itching. The diagnosis is generally established after a physical examination and a skin cytology test are done. Sometimes, sending out a skin culture to an external laboratory is necessary.
